Business Operations Intern
PulseMedica, an Edmonton-based start-up, is seeking a Business Operations Intern to join our team at our Edmonton headquarters.
In this dynamic role, you’ll contribute to a wide range of business activities—spanning digital marketing, stakeholder reporting, project management, and fundraising initiatives (both equity and grants). You’ll also help streamline and execute daily operational and administrative processes that are essential to our company’s growth.
We’re looking for someone who is proactive, adaptable, and detail-oriented, with a strong curiosity for how start-ups operate and scale. The ideal candidate brings excellent organizational and communication skills, takes initiative, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Our platform combines machine-learning, real-time three dimensional eye imaging and high precision laser surgery platform. The Opportunity
The Business Operations Intern role provides a unique opportunity to work with a talented and energetic team while gaining experience across multiple areas of a growing technology company. The successful candidate will actively support projects related to marketing, funding, operations, and strategic initiatives while learning how different functions work together to drive company growth.
Responsibilities
- Support the planning and execution of marketing initiatives and digital campaigns (LinkedIn, Instagram, X, etc.) to enhance brand visibility, audience engagement, and stakeholder awareness.
- Support internal reporting and data analysis by compiling and presenting information on company activities, progress metrics, and key operational insights for leadership and stakeholders.
- Develop and assist with content creation for internal communications, including reports, presentations, and multimedia materials, to support company updates, stakeholder reporting, and team alignment.
- Provide project management and coordination support across day-to-day business operations and ad-hoc initiatives, ensuring effective planning, execution, and communication across teams.
- Contribute to workflow automation and process optimization to improve operational efficiency and scalability.
- Assist with special and ad-hoc projects, helping operationalize deliverables and supporting cross-functional execution.
- Conduct investor and grant research, tracking funding opportunities, applications, and reporting requirements.
Qualifications
- Enrolled in the Haskayne School of Business Undergraduate Co-op Program and meet all eligibility criteria for the Hunter Family WIL Fund through the University of Calgary, including a full-time co-op work term from January to April 2026.
- Currently enrolled in a Business, Finance/Accounting, Marketing, Communications, or related degree program, or possess an equivalent educational background.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt to different audiences.
- Excellent organizational skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and collaborative work ethic.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with competing priorities.
- Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
- Must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
Requirements
The successful candidate will bring a blend of marketing, analytical, and operational skills to support PulseMedica’s business and fundraising activities. This role requires strong organizational ability, communication skills, and comfort working across teams in a dynamic startup environment.
- Previous experience working in a startup or early-stage company is a valuable asset; familiarity with tools such as Slack, Jira, Confluence, and Google Workspace is preferred.
- Familiarity with social media platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, X, Facebook), website management tools (e.g., Webflow, Wix, ec.), and digital design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is considered an asset.
- Experience with project management systems, CRM platforms, and digital workflows tools (e.g., Jira, MS Project, HubSpot, Mailchimp), along with familiarity with AI software (e.g., Google Gemini, ChatGPT) and automation platforms (e.g., Zapier, n8n, GPT AgentKit), is a valuable asset.
- Strong spreadsheet and data management skills, with proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets and the ability to work with financial data, databases, and data visualization tools is an asset.
- Interest in data analysis, process optimization, and workflow automation to improve organizational efficiency is an asset
- Experience in project coordination, marketing, graphic design, or general business operations roles is an asset.
- Interest or experience in grant and investor research, stakeholder reporting, or day-to-day business operations is an asset.
Anticipated Start Date: January 05, 2026
Duration: 4 months with the possibility of extension. Temporary full-time (40 hours per week).
Salary: $25 - $28/hour
Location: Edmonton
