Director of Supply Chain & Operations

General Accountability:
A strategic Director of Supply Chain & Operations to lead the transformation of our global logistics, procurement, and inventory functions. This is a leadership role for a change agent. This role will take full ownership of the material lifecycle from supplier contract negotiation to final customer delivery.
This role will lead efforts to professionalize the logistics network, eliminate international customs holds, and implement robust inventory controls. This role requires a proactive thinker to ensure that the manufacturing team has the right materials at the right time to meet revenue demands.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Logistics & Global Trade Compliance
- Strategic Oversight: Support quarterly revenue initiatives. Manage internal and external stakeholders to ensure medical equipment moves seamlessly across borders.
- Compliance: Establish a corporate Trade Compliance program. Personally oversee complex customs classifications (HS Codes), valuations, and country-of-origin determinations to prevent border delays.
- Freight Management: Negotiate master service agreements with global carriers and freight forwarders to reduce landed costs and transit times.
2. Supply Chain Planning & Procurement
- S&OP Leadership: Lead the monthly Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process. Translate sales forecasts into actionable build plans and procurement schedules.
- Supplier Management: Select suppliers and negotiate contracts with critical OEM suppliers. Drive cost reduction initiatives and manage supplier risk/performance.
- Inventory Strategy: Own the company’s inventory targets. Implement strategies (Kanban, Safety Stock, Min/Max) to maximize cash flow while preventing stockouts.
3. Operational Excellence & Install Base
- ERP/Systems: Act as an owner for the ERP system’s supply chain modules (Purchasing, Inventory (in-house/field), Order Management). Drive data integrity.
- Install Base Support: Oversee the logistics of spare parts and service loops for the installed base of devices in the field.
- Cost Control: Manage the departmental budget and drive reductions in purchasing decisions, overhead (build vs outsource), freight, return goods, scrap rate, and material variance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or Supply Chain. An MBA in Supply Chain is a strong asset
- 10+ years in Operations/Supply Chain, with at least 5 years in the Medical Device or highly regulated manufacturing sector.
- Deep knowledge of International Customs Regulations (Canada/USA/EU/APAC) and ERP systems.
- Proven ability to build departments from scratch and separate "Supply Chain" functions from "Manufacturing" functions.

The expected base salary range for this role is $160,000 - 185,000 CAD. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and job-related factors. This role may also be eligible for participation in the company’s benefits programs, such as a group RRSP and medical benefits paid by the employer.
