General Accountability
As a Repair Technician specializing in RMA service and repair, you will be a hands-on expert responsible for the troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and maintenance of our medical devices that have been returned from the field. Repair product within a controlled, quality-focused environment, ensuring every repaired device meets stringent functional specifications, quality standards, and is safe for clinical use.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Contribute to a positive work culture and foster a high-performance team environment;
- Communicating pertinent information regarding timelines, goals, or objectives;
- Perform hands-on mechanical, electrical, and/or software troubleshooting of returned medical devices down to the component or sub-assembly level;
- Accurately document all service activities within the QMS and service management software. Ensure all DHRs are complete, accurate, and comply with GDP;
- Execute functional testing, calibration procedures, and final verification tests on repaired units using specialized test equipment and fixtures to ensure performance matches original manufacturing specifications;
- Support the Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) process based on identified field failure trends. Collaborate with R&D and Manufacturing Engineers to implement robust, systemic fixes and prevent recurrence;
- Support Complaint Handling to ensure timely failure investigations are linked to customer complaints, providing technical insights for regulatory reporting;
- Strictly adhere to established work instructions, quality procedures, and safety protocols relevant to a regulated medical device environment. Understand and follow the requirements of ISO 13485;
- Manage spare parts inventory within the service depot, performing cycle counts and requesting replenishment to ensure efficient repair turnaround times;
- Maintain control of equipment requiring calibration and preventive maintenance. Support preventive maintenance work with manufacturing engineers;
- Actively support quality control and continuous improvement through participation in engineering changes and other improvement programs;
- Support Lean activities and initiatives;
- Support EHS activities and initiatives;
- Perform other duties/special projects as assigned.
Education
- Post-Secondary diploma required.
- University or college degree in a technical area such as Mechanical/ Electronics/ Electro-Mechanical Technology or Engineering with Mechanical/ Electronics background preferred.
Key Attributes
- 2-5 years of manufacturing experience in a regulated environment (ISO 9001) performing intricate (high dexterity) manufacturing, preferably in the medical device industry (ISO 13485);
- Exposure to test equipment such as hi-pot, current leakage tester, and pressure leak tester;
- Ability to use common shop tools;
- IPC Soldering Certification preferred;
- Exposure to use of common mechanical measuring equipment;
- Logical thinking with creative problem-solving ability;
- Detail-orientated, highly motivated, patient and diligent;
- Able to work well in teams and independently;
- Experience working with MR compatible devices and therapeutic ultrasound devices is an asset;
- Knowledge of good manufacturing practices.

The expected base pay range for this role is $24 - $30 CAD per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and job-related factors. This role may also be eligible for participation in the company’s benefits programs, such as a group RRSP and medical benefits paid by the employer.
