About the Role
We are looking for a highly organized and motivated Business Operations Intern to support the day-to-day operations of our growing organization. This role offers hands-on exposure to multiple areas of the business, including operations, project coordination, customer support, administration, and process improvement.
As a Business Operations Intern, you will work closely with team members across departments to help keep projects on track, support internal processes, analyze business data, and contribute to initiatives that improve efficiency and performance. You will gain valuable experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while developing practical skills in project management, business operations, stakeholder communication, and problem-solving.
This internship is ideal for a proactive and detail-oriented student or recent graduate who is eager to learn how a business operates behind the scenes and is excited to take on a variety of responsibilities that make a meaningful impact across the organization.
As this role is possible due to funding from the Canada Summer Jobs program, candidates for the position must meet the following criteria:
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment and
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Support:
- Assist in the daily operations of the business, ensuring processes and procedures are followed efficiently and effectively.
- Help monitor and track the progress of ongoing projects and initiatives, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Coordinate cross-departmental collaboration and communication to streamline business operations.
- Cross-Departmental Support:
- Provide support across different departments (e.g., finance, marketing, HR) as required to ensure the smooth operation of the business.
- Assist with ad-hoc tasks, including preparing documents, communicating with stakeholders, or other operational duties as needed.
- Project Coordination:
- Assist in coordinating business projects, helping to ensure timelines, budgets, and objectives are met.
- Work with project managers or department heads to monitor project status and provide necessary support.
- Handle project-related administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, tracking deliverables, and documenting decisions.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify and suggest process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce operational bottlenecks.
- Participate in operational reviews and help implement changes based on team feedback and performance metrics.
- Assist in the documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and workflows.
- Customer Service and Client Relations:
- Support customer service initiatives by helping to resolve client inquiries or issues promptly and professionally.
- Assist with customer order processing, tracking, and follow-up as needed.
- Help maintain positive relationships with external vendors, partners, and clients.
- Data Entry and Analysis:
- Input, manage, and analyze operational data (e.g., inventory, sales, customer service metrics) to help drive business decisions.
- Prepare basic data reports and assist in identifying trends or areas for improvement.
- Support the creation and maintenance of dashboards or performance tracking tools.
- Administrative Support:
- Provide general administrative support to various departments, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and coordinating travel arrangements.
- Maintain and organize company records, files, and databases to ensure that documentation is up to date and easily accessible.
- Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and internal communications.
